What to expect at your first visit?

Orthotics Barrie

Our Certified Pedorthist will do a thorough gait and biomechanical analysis of your feet. We will also do a casting (a 3-D Scan or foam box impression) of your feet to begin manufacturing. We manufacture all custom orthotics in our on-site lab. This allows for a quick turnaround time for you! We guarantee our orthotics for 2 years, which includes complimentary modifications, reassessments, and re-manufacturing if you pain is not gone!

What is a Biomechanical Assessment?

A complete Biomechanical Assessment is approximately 30-45 minutes in length. A number of tests are performed, starting with an assessment of muscle strength and joint flexibility; examining joints and muscles while seated, standing and walking (and sometimes, running!) to determine if and where abnormal function and mechanics exists. Finally, lower limb alignment is observed in both sitting and standing positions.

Your Certified Pedorthist will also ask you about some previous and current health history questions to gain a better understanding of your treatment moving forward. Some questions may focus on:

  • past/current health conditions
  • medications
  • previous injuries/surgeries
  • daily activity
  • workplace environment
  • current footwear

All of our orthotics are crafted in-house at MyoDynamic Health in Barrie, giving us full control over the design process and ensuring a high-quality product for our patients. Based on your specific condition, our Certified Pedorthists will guide you in choosing the most suitable fabrication method to provide optimal support and relief.

CAD-CAM Milled Custom Orthotics

Orthotics Barrie

Here's an overview of the CAD process:

3-Dimensional Scan: This digital scan captures the precise contours and measurements of your feet, ensuring a customized fit.

Computer-Aided Design (CAD): The scan data is used to create a personalized design that addresses specific foot issues, such as arch support, cushioning, or correcting conditions like flat feet or overpronation.

Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM): The CAD design is transferred to a milling machine, which accurately carves the orthotic shape from high-quality materials like EVA foam or other supportive substances.

Quality Control: After milling, the custom orthotic undergoes a thorough inspection to ensure it meets the original digital design and offers the proper support.

Fitting and Adjustment: The custom orthotic is then fitted into your shoes, with any necessary adjustments made to ensure a comfortable and supportive fit.

How Custom Orthotics Make a Difference

Custom orthotics are specifically designed to match the unique shape of your feet, providing personalized support, while generic inserts are mass-produced to fit standard shoe sizes. Since each foot is different, generic inserts may not provide the proper support and can even worsen foot issues. Custom-made orthotics, on the other hand, ensure that every contour and problem area of your foot is supported, offering improved comfort and pain relief.

Benefits of Custom Orthotics

Relieve Pressure and Pain: Custom-made orthotic insoles are designed to relieve foot pain by redistributing pressure to the right areas, reducing discomfort and promoting better foot health.

Correct Foot Structure: Custom orthotics can correct structural issues like high arches or flat feet, addressing the underlying cause of discomfort and improving overall foot alignment.

Improve Body Alignment: Orthotic inserts don’t just benefit your feet—they help align your ankles, knees, and back as well. Proper foot support ensures correct gait, preventing your body from compensating and shifting to avoid pain in affected areas.

Enhance Athletic Performance: For athletes, custom orthotics provide added support, improving agility and preventing injury. Even if you’re not experiencing pain, they can help reduce strain and keep you performing at your best.
